Hi, It will be a while yet before I need to breed my heifers. I am thinking AI will be the best way to go for us.
How does one evaluate AI Semen ? I noticed the ABWPA has some semen but the name is the only information given. Are there pictures of these bulls available. I really want to see the bulls - front, sides and rear along with any stats I can get. Also would like to see the mother and any information on her.
Since I am unfamiliar with lines in the breed anyone care to give a brief version of some of the basic lines and what attributes they might tend to ?
Thanks for any information. Melissa Crislip

Hi Melissa, I have semen available on several bulls, along with data on their Genestar results, Ultrasound and Linear Measure, etc... And videos of some of the bulls as well. Follow this link www.jwest.biz

It is that time of year that I start to evaluate semen bulls for use this spring on my heifers. Does anyone have info on the Huckleberry Finn bull? How does he work on heifers? Does he produce good meaty animals? Better heifers or bulls?
I have seen some photo's of animals with good color. Would appreciate any info anyone could give me.

Hi Larry, From what I remember reading, Huck's calves are about average size, a little smaller in weight than his Sire's average. They are beefy. There is a facility in the midwest that has his straws. If you are interested, I will track them down and give you the info.
