I find showing cattle to be very valuable for a couple of reasons.
First it gives me an opportunity to compare how my breeding program is progressing compared to others. The judge may be right or wrong but I have the chance to see my cattle in the ring with others. It amazes me how you really can evaluate cattle better when you see them in the ring together.
Second, Showing is a very good marketing stratagy. I have met many new customers at shows.
Third (ok three is more than a couple but the most important reason just came to me) Working with the cattle and being with other White Park breeders for a few days is so much fun.

The shows will be here before most of us are ready. The experts tell me that you should body clip your calves now (better if done a month ago). This gives your calves a chance to have the hair grow out better and even. When it warms a little, it is never too early to start giving those animals a bath.
Hope to see many of you at the first ever National Junior Show the end of July in Quincy Illinois.
